She was a rose

A branching path narrative that uses a series of animated videos to tell the story of a character trapped in a limbo. The goal was to encourage replayability and was successful along with being very well received by players and peers.  

This project took about a year to create, with only myself working on the project from concept and final art, the story and script along with editing 15 different videos that last over 30 minutes.

She was a rose is an series of animations created in Adobe Premier and After Effects and all art assets from the backgrounds, textboxes and characters created in Clip Studio Paint. In order to save time creating all the animation needed to cover several videos, I decided to replicate the look of a game to showcase multiple areas of my expertise however this ended up somewhat detrimental to my goal as it hindered the engagement as the viewer was presented a lot of text they needed to read and the videos either needed more action in them or to take the story into a more interactive media like a visual novel or a game. 

The main character was a retired character from a dungeon and dragons campaign, and the story revolved around multiple elements of the character from her past and the deal she made. Many elements of the characters backstory was added upon along with the other characters and the dynamic and relationship between all of them.
